Picture
On this page you will find the journey that Pastor Matthew and Kathy are on for this Sabbatical, this time of rest and refreshment! They will be gone for two months and will be traveling from here to Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas, New Mexico, etc. They hope to visit the Grand Canyon, see the giant Sequoia trees, visit Kathy's family in CA and Washington! Pray for them! Pray for good health and their vehicle and camper will function without any issues! Come by this page often as they will be posting regularly in their travels!

All hooked up and ready for an adventure!!
All hooked up and ready for an adventure!
Best friends traveling together!
Our goal was 500 miles today but accomplished 225. Kathy came down with a headache so we found a campground to hang out for a couple days. Stay tuned for more of our adventure!
This is the campground that welcomed us when we had to get off the raod because kathy got sick. They even reduced the amount for the campsite! They really blessed us
Sitting beside the Delaware River just enjoying the sunshine!
Kathy's handiwork! Spreading the good news!
At Walmart and ran into Nick! He bought his shirt at this Walmart and I bought mine at the Keene Walmart! We had a good time!
Hey Frank Messana! One of your golf balls has been placed at the campground!
Running with the big boys! WooHoo!
The new generator we bought was not sufficient in this hot weather so we went to a campground.
The campground we called closed at 8pm and we were 35 min away and it was 7:30! we had to move fast! Problem was it was too rough a ride for some of our stuff!
The campground owner hung out for us. He was a real blessing and even told us of a place we could go to get the right sized generator/inverter! God has our number and He provides!
There was a traffic jamb for while on I-80. At the end of the jamb a woman passed us then rolled down her window, pointed up and gave us the thumbs up sign and waved. She was reacting to our message "Know Jesus...Know peace." Later a truck driver went by and gave us the finger. We prayed for that driver!
This is Ted, a Christ centered man we ran into at a HUGE store called Menards. He and we were looking for a generator/invertrer. Ted helped us choose the one we bought for our camper. Thank you Ted for your help! May the Lord bless you richly!
A little rain today but we continued on!
Would love to see this in NH!!
Found a Christian campground to stay in tonight and have church in the morning!
Parked in our new home for the night. What a blessing when several other campers came over and helped us align the camper and Sequoia up to get it in correctly and safely! Thank you all for your help! Wherever we go and run into Christians, we have found them so full of love and have a servants heart!
Saturday night and the scy was awesome! This is at 9:30pm!
Good night! The lord willing we will see the sun in the morning!
Yes, they are strong 2nd ammendment people here!
This is the bench in the men's bath house!
Now this is how to do Laundry!
This is the church service at the campground. Pastor Dan preached a reall good message out of Gen. 13! Excellent service this morning!
Pastor Dan
Behind the church building at the campground. Indiana has some beautiful country!
A bald eagle was flying over Indianapolis International airport! Double click the photro and it will enlarge to see the eagle!
The biggest cross we have ever seen! It was on I-70
Crossing the Mississippi River into Missouri!
Our first attempt at "boondocking" at Walmart. We went in and asked and they were very nice and gave us permission even though there are signs in the parking lot saying otherwise. They did say, "Justr don't start a campfire and roast marshmallows! Hahaha!
A little cowboy humor!
We even experienced an Missouri thunderstorm!
The storm was pretty strong so we got off the road for lunch.
An omelet cooked in our camper while we waited out the storm! Yup, we are fully self-contained!
Waiting out the storm
On the road again!
Entering Kansas! Kathy and I have never been to this state so this is totally new territory for us!
Oil rig
Lots of cattle out here
Had heabvy rain in the morning then experienced Kansas wind this aftewrnoon! See the trees bent from the wind? Imagine what it was doing to our rig while driving!
Pulled into this campground around 8:30pm and we both are bushed!
When you are in cowboy country........
To all of you who are following along on our two month journey, we want you to know that we are praying for all of you as we travel. Our nation is huge and full of all kinds of people. We are running into beleivers all over and having the oportunity to spread His love! We are grateful for your prayers as we travel. We have had no issues mechanically with the Sequoia and the camper and we are getting a
whopping 8.5 mph!
Cattle taking a swim because it is hot!
We saw literally thousands of windmills in Kansas!
These types of signs are all over in the heartland!
Crossing into Oklahoma!
Never see this at home, a cropduster!
In Kansas, gas is $2.89 per gal!
Welcome to Texas!
Welcome to New Mexico!
The first large hill we've seen in three days!
Our extended mirror broke. You can fix anything with duct tape!
There is a storm coming! the cloud formation was breath taking!
AGREED!!!
First real mountains we've seen in quite a long time!
Parkee for the night at Hidden Valley RV Mountain Resort in Tijeras, NM. Tomorrow we will attempt a 430 mile ride to The Grand Canyon! We have a three day stopover there! Can't wiat! I've never seen the Grand Canyon!
Just had to try it on!
Today is July 3rd. We did about 430 miles to get to our campground in a little town called Valle, AZ. The trip was glorious as every hill we drove over revealed yet another grand vista that was breathtaking! Then we mae it to our campground and set up camp, ate some dinner and headed back out to see The Grand Canyon! /tomorrow we will spend the day there. Stay tuned!!!
A little repair job on the road. The license plate almost fell off!
God's creation is fantastic!
We made it to Arizona!! WooHoo!!
Heading into the mountains. Flagstaff is somewhere up there!
Campsite #8 at Rapture Ranch RV park and campground. 96degrees and no shade! Thank You Lord for our air conditioner!
Jus tmet this couple in the parking lot of the Grand Canyon! Roman, Lydia and thier children, Eden and Zion! They just completed their requirements to go onto the mission field. They are on a two month sabbatical before they decide where they will go. Preacious family!
Photos just cannot capture the riviting emotion of seeing this for the first time! I just about cried, (Kathy did) and it literally took my breath away!
Ran into a small group of Elk as we were headed back down!
A little way further down, we saw this antelope!
Another day all done. Time to go to bed! Blessings to all and have a good night!
A jackrabbit came to visit us at our campsite!
I could sit there all day and never be able to drink it all in!
We got bigger squirrels than this guys!
There are no words that can accurately discribe what we saw today! God's creation handiwork is awesome!
Turkeys even in AZ!!
A deer crossed in front of us tday. He acted like he owned the road!
Another group of Elk! Just too cool!
Kathy greets you all with a smile!
Please pray for this family. We had the privilege of sharing the gospel with them. May they receive with grace!
Yup. Just had to try it on! No, I didn't buy it!
If you look closely, you will see a golf ball. Thank you Frank Messana for your donation to evangelize! (click on the photo and it will enlarge)
Arizona landscape
The land of the round rocks!
Majestic mountains off in the distance!
Arizona landscape is so unique to our New Hampshire!
The Colorado River separating Arizona and California.
We made it! Now crossing the California state line!
Now entering the Pacific Time Zone! We are now three hours behind home time.
Entering the Mojave Desert! 115 Degrees!
When we entered the Mojave Desert, it was 115 degrees out. We stopped for gas, (8.59 a gal) and when we got back into the Sequoia, the air conditioner compressor quit on us. The clutch burned up so now we have no cold air! We toughed it out for over 150 miles until we g0t to the next campsite. That campground was in a very small town and nobody could fix it on a saturday. So, Kathy and I got up at 4am and traveled the 300 miles to the next destination which is in San Juan Bautista, CA. We somewhat beat the heat and the heat will break tomorrw with temps around 70 degress. We are going to meet Kathy's sister tomorrow at her church in Monterey. Excited for Kathy to finally meet her sister Melissa face to face! Hopefully we can get the air conditioner fixed on Monday!
A California surise!
This is the town of Mojave, CA. I have never seen so many windmiss concentrated in one area. There had to be a thousand at least!
Drove all this way and still just next door to Keene!
The desert has it's own unigue beauty!
We saw many oil rigs in this region of california and not one of them were working. And they say we have a shortage of oil?
Please pray for this woman. She was having fits of rage and screaming foul lanquage.
It is so dry here. We think These burned areas are from people tossing out cigarette butts maybe?
A water reservoir that went on for miles!
Our next home sweet home for the next few days.
Shortly after we arrived at this campground, they had a big cookout with live music! What a blessing as now we have dinner as well. Met a lot of sweet people!
The person with us is Al. He has spent the last 20 years as a Police Chaplain! He and his wife Elva are in the next picture.
The man seated to my left, your right is a retired Episcopal priest and a Vietnam vet! He and his wife were a pleasure to spend time with!
Today is the day Kathy gets to meet herr sister she found through DNA! Melissa and her husband Randy live in Marina CA. We met at their church called Shoreline Church in Monterey then spent the day with them! What a blessing they were to us!
Kathy and Melissa! Sisters that finally got to meet each other face to face! What a teary time!
If you look closely you will see the DNA matchup between Kathy and Melissa!
The woman in the middle is Melissa's mother which makes her Kathy's step mother!
I think these are black tailed deer. They just wonder around the neighborhood!
I just had to put my feet into the Pacific Ocean. Can't getr any further west than this!
A Pacific otter
Kathy's birth father's grave.
Randy and Melissa treated us to a wonderful dinner! We have never been to a resurant that cooked the meal right at your table!
Today, July 8th is the day we did laundry and brought the Toyota Sequoia to the dealer to get fixed. They had to keep it overnight so they gave us a loaner car to come back to the campground. We can pick the Sequoia up tomorrow morning at the tune of $2500! Sure glad our Lord supplies all our need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus! We still had a couple of divine appointments!
This is Juanita, a woman Kathy spent time with and talked with her. She is a Christian too! We have run into many believers at this campground!
Meet Gloria. She is a strong Spirit-filled believer we met at the Toyota dealer in Salinas, CA.
This was in the laundry. Just had to share it with you!
Expensive repair but it will be done right! Thank you Jesus for Your provision!! We bless Your holy name!!
California swallows nesting above the men's room door.
This is Victor. We met him at the Toyota dealer. He spent 11 years in prison but has accepted Jesus as Lord. He admits he doesn't go to church but his children do go. We encouraged him to join them on Sunday mornings. Really nice guy! Please pray for Victor!
Ok Frank Messana, another golf ball is left behind at Salinas Toyota Dealer!
This is Melissa. She helped us find what we needed at Walmart. She too is a beliver but doesn't go to church yet her family does. Pray for her please!
The Sequoia and the camper are once again reunited and we resume our travels tomorrow morning. Now we are headed to Oregon!
Wednesday, July 10th was a travel day. Headed to Oregon but still in northern California!
A field of some sort of vegetable!
Aother one of Frank Messana's galf balls!
Coming into Sacramento, CA.
Field workers. California does grow a whole lot of our vegetables and fruits!
We think this is a field of rice. Saw square miles of it!
Gorgeous views of these rugged mountains!
Home for the evening. Trail In RV Campground in Lakehead, CA. This is our last night in California!
Thursday, July 11 is a travel day but we stopped in Medford, OR where Kathy's maternal grandfather is buried.
We traveled on I-5 through a lot of fire damage in these mountains.
6% grade. Thank YOu Lord for good brakes!
We made it to Oregon!
We stopped in Medford, OR where Kathy's grandfather on her mother's side is buried. He was a very godly man who set a firm foundation of seeking the Lord in his family.
Kathy left this rock with her message to her grandfather at the base of his stone. You can see it on the next photo.
Traveled all this way and still close to Winchester?
Home for the night at Shamrock RV in Eugene, OR
Today, Friday, July 12th is a monumental day! First, we cross into Washington! Second, we travel through Seattle where Kathy was born! Third, after we check in at the campground and set up our camper, we will go find Kathy's sister's grave. She died at almost three years old. As far as we know, no one has visited her grave since she was buried over 60 years ago because Kathy's family moved great distances away.
Miles and miles of hay!
Jesus is very present even on the west coast!
Coming into Seatle, WA
This was at a rest stop on I-5
A guy playing the sax next to a truck stop.
We have NEVER seen traffic like this and it was not even rush hour! It took over 2 hours to travel 40 miles.
Had to stop for this family of geese to cross the road. They took thier sweet time too!
Set up the camper then set out to find Kathy's sister Shawn's grave.
We found her grave and it was a very emotional time, especially for Kathy...
Cleaning the stone
These photos are of Kathy meeting her cousin Kristina and Kristina's niece, Grace. We met them for the first time at her church, Calvary Chapel in Edmond Washington! Kristina founded a mission for children with cancer in the Philippines called Everlasting Hope.  Google "Everlasting Hope, Philippines" to find our more about her mission!
Their very first face to face meeting!
Here is Kristina's niece, Grace, which is also Kathy's cousin!
We met them at Kristina's church, Calvary Chapel in Edmond, WA.
Yup! they found each other trhrough DNA!
This next group of pics are from July 15 and 16. We left Everett, WA and traveled to Sequim, WA but we had a new experience. We put our Sequoia and camper on the Edmond ferry. It cost about the same as it would have for gas to go all the way around Puget Sound! It was an experience for sure. We met Kathy's cousin Kathleen and her husband Ray. They graciously let us park the camper in their back yard and we will be here for up to a week.
In line to board the ferry to take us to the other side of Puget Sound.
Dirving onto the ferry! This is just too cool!
We are now on the ferry!
This person came up to us on the ferry an asked if we were going to Sequim to meet family! We were quite surprised! Turns out he is friends and fellow logging truck driver with Ray, Kathy's cousin Kathleen's husband! He was telephoned and asked if he could see us!
Thank You Jesus for this time Kathy and I have together!
Old timeCountry general store and on the seond floor was a musium of things you will find in the sea!
Kathy and Kathleen meet for the first time. They are cousins.
The four of us out for dinner!
This is the high school Kathy's mom went to.
Ray and kathleen took us to this game farm. It was a blast for sure!
Here is a seal we saw down at Puget Sound.
More photos will follow tomorrow. We are here in Sequim for a few more days. Still have more of Kathy's family to meet!
Today was a "lazy day" as we only went to one cemetery looking for Kathy's grandmother's
grave with her cousin Kathleen.
This is the rock Kathy left at her and Kathleen's mutual grandmother's grave.
We were also looking for Kathy's second great grandmother's grave. Her last name was Andersen. The grave we found was Anderson but with the correct death date. We had to dig through about three inches of sod to find the stone. The mystery cotinues!
Black tailed deer in the cemetery.
Kathy, Kathleen and Kathleen's granddaughter enjoying the pond and some geese and ducks!
This is overlooking the Canadian mountains on the other side of the Straights of Juan de Fuca waterway. This waterway will bring you to the Pacific Ocean about 50 miles west.
Today, July 18th, was a really special day for Kathy! She met another cousin but they knew each other way back when Kathy lived here in Sequim, WA. She left when she was four years old but her cousin, David Clinton was seven and he remembers Kathy! We had lunch with David then we went out to the cemetery to look for Kathy's great great grandmother on her birth father's side and we found it! We also went to Kathy's aunt and uncle's grave. Both of thier birthdays and Kathy's mother's birthday was today!
A part of trhe Olympic mountain range! they are absoutely stunnig! Several still have snow on them.
Kathy meeting her cousin David Clinton for the first time in 64 years!
We searched for and found Kathy's great great grandmother on her father's side. Mary Ann Baker. Spent some time cleaning the stone in honor of her!
Nice and clean! Kathy left a tribute to her great great grandmother on a small stone.
This is Kathy's aunt and uncle's grave. They both have the same birthday as Kathy's mom and that day is today! Kathy's cousin's graqnd daughter watched kathy leave tribute stones on graves so she left on on this grave as they are her grand father and grand mother. She did it on her own initiative.
Pray for this guy. His name is David. We met him when we went for a walk. We talked to him about Jesus and he prayed to receive Jesus as his Lord and Savior!
Too funny! A merry heart does good like a medicine!
Today is July 19th and it was a traavel day for us. We left Sequim, WA and only traveled about 240 miles because  the traffic was horrible around Tacoma. Once we got on I-90 travel was much more enjoyable! Here are some photos of the trip today! Any photo will enlarge if you click onto it!
Looking over Puget Sound as we head south then northeast!
Nope! Neither Kathy nor I saw him! Oh well!
Bumper to bumper traffic for miles and miles! Seems to be the standard around Tacoma and Seattle!
Love it!
This trucker has a sense of humor!
Mount Rainier way off in the distance.
Magnificent mountain!
Good idea!
We have the majestic White Mountains but they cannot compare to the Cascade Mountain range!
If you click the photo it will enlarge and you can see men in harnesses hanging off the ledge.
As soon as we got on the other side of the Cascade Mountains, the terrain completely changed into a desert land! And it was hot!
Home for the night at Riverstone RV and campground in Vantage, WA.
We had yet another travel day today and what we saw was spectacular! We left Vantage, Washington and traveled through the northern desert area of this state. We then crossed into the panhandle of Idaho and then into Montana! You will see the changes of terrain as we went from desert, to farm land to the Rocky Mountains! We have awesome mountains in NH but nothing can compare with the Rockies!
If you look at the bluff a little left of center, we traveled to the top and some photos below are from up there! Spectacular!
From the top of that bluff I mentioned earlier. And yes, look out for rattlesnakes!
Thisw is Max and Jessica, a young christian couple we met on top of that bluff. Really nice people we were blessed to meet!
For 14 miles, the state of Idaho labeled the fields so travelers could tell what was growing.
A very long train of coal.
We saw a lot of forest damage caused by fires.
We've never been in Idaho until now!
Yup, 3069 ft elevation. Seemed like we just went up and up and up.....
And then down and down and down......
Crossing into Montana and the Rocky Mountains!
Couldn't identify this bird but it was big! I mean...BIG!!!!
This is a helicopter with water heading to a wildfire. When we got to Lolo, MT Kathy saw on the internet that the closest wildfire to us is only 14 miles away.
Home for the next two nights. Tomorrow we will go to church in Missoula, MT and meet some more brothers and sisters.
This was today's temp. It actually got u[ tpo 101 degrees.
Today is Sunday, July 21st and we watched the service at Grace while we got ready to go to Elevate Church in Missoula, MT. Elevvate Church is about the same size as GCF with the same thrust in ministry!
Elevate Chruch in Missoula, MT. A really good church!
Afdter the morning service they had an outside baptism and cookout. We had a blast celevrating with those who got water baprized! Nine in all!
A beautiful setrting for a church!
Good food, good fellowship!
This is Pastor Randy Rathert and his wife Stacia. Very sweet people. We were so gflad we chose this church to go to this morning. We never got a photo with them so I took this off the church website, elevatemt.org
Today we traveled to Cody, Wyoming, about a 440 mile journey through the back roads of Wyoming through the Rocky Mountains. God's handiwork is awesome to say the least!
Just look around!
Wildfires in Montana is causing smoke clouds! Hard to see the mountains from a distance!
Nope! Not with a 30 ft camper!
Another train of coal.
These cliffs are mezmirizing!
If you look closely you will see two mountain goats. Too cool! We almost missed them!
We say many bee hives!
Th fuselage of two jets on a train.
they allow bicycles on the interstate in Wyoming!
We made it to Wyoming!
Downtown Cody.
It was strange bringing a 30 ft camper through these tunnels!
Our new home for three or fur nights.
the surrounding area where we are camped! Absolutely beautiful!
Today is July 23rd and we spent the day in Cody, Wyoming at some Buffalo Bill museums. A good restful day! Kathy's second great grand parents were married on horseback during a 4th of July celebration rodeo in Cody. The librarian in the museum found a couple of photos of Kathy's great great grandfather, Jonnie Dodge!
A Wyoming sunset!
A Wyoming sunrise!
Traveling from our campground to Cody, WY. I know I keep saaying breathtaking and awesome, but......
This is a replica of an old western town in the 1800's. They named it "Old Trail Town."
Having fun! But it was HOT!!
Kathy's great grandmother was born in 1880 in Meeteetse, WY. This actual school house was built in Meeteetse in 1884. It is probable that she went to school in this very school house! Is that cool or what!!!
This iis the largest firearms museum in the USA from what we were told!
Meet Rick. We had a wonderful conversation with him about the Lord Jesus Christ. Nice guy!
Got to watch a raptore presentation!
A red tailed hawk!
A peregrine falcon
A turkey vulture! Ugly but necessary!
We went down to the archives of the Buffalo Bill museum and a researcher helped us actrually find photos of Johnny Dodge, Kathy's great grandfather, Kathy's mom's grandfather!
We were driving down Main St. in Cody and saw a bunch of people so we stopped to find out what was happening. We found a place to park and found out it was a street play of an old western gun fight! What fun!
Wednesday, July 24th. We had such a good trime at the Buffalo Bill Museum, we went back again. When you purchase tickets, they are good for two days and they have 5 differenet museums to go through!
This is an image of Buffalo Bill projected on a falling mist. You can put yourhand through it or stand in it!
This is a Bible the Pony Express riders had. It has been said, the 1860-61 Pony Express riders were armed with a Colt Revolver on one side and a Bible on the other.
Various displays
In the cafeteria dining area was a piano player. He is a Christian and he played How Great Thou Art and he is just a nice your man who is very gifted!
A tranquil spot!
Another Wyoming sunset!
Thursday was Yellowstone National Park Day! We saw a grizzly bear with a cub, a herd of Elk, Buffalo, birds, and all kinds of things God has created! Lots of photos in this portion! It was an awesome day to say the least!
We ran into this guy and some of his friends in the park. He's a biker with Christrian Motorcycle Association.
Yellowstone Welcome Center.
Photos just does not do justice to many of these photos. The colors were so sharp and brilliant!
With all the walking around, refueling is mandatory!
Elevation is 8391 ft but we had gone much higher than that in this journey in Yellowstone!
One thing on my bucket list is fulfilled! We got to watch "Old Faithful" erupt!
This is what happens when wildlife is spotted. Everyone stops, gets out and looks!
This photo is not magnified. This is how close we were to this guy. He was down a bank a little ways so we were not in any danger.
These sulfur hot pits are all over Yellowstone! Never know when you will see some.
Yellowstone lake...It is huge!
A bear and her cub off in the distance
Momma grizzly with her cub
A buffalo way out in the field walking towards the road.
Here he crossed the road as if he owned it. Nobody challenged him on that fact!
Friday, July 26th is another travel day. Interesting to note, we had to travel through Meeteetse, Wyoming. This is a little town of 309 people and Kathy's Great Grandmother on her mother's side was born here in 1880! We are headed to Mt. Rushmore in Keystone, South Dakota but will do an overnight in Rozet, WY.
Thisis in a field out in the middle of nowhere! Any guesses as to what it means?
Heading to Mount Rushmore in South Dakota and we will be traveling through Meeteetse, WY where Kathy's Great Grandmother was born in 1880!
An antelope lazely watching the traffic go by.
This is the whole town's main st. Don't blink or you'll miss it!
This is the Meeteetse museum. We stopped in and it was quite impressive!
We started an upward thrust into the mountains. 30 miles later we found the top!
Found the top! Look what we found on the other side!
If you look closely you will see the framework for a teepee. We found four of them.
We met this young couple, David and Lina from Germany. They have now heard the gospel so please pray for fruit in their lives!
Love these signs!
It is hot and it is dry in Wyoming!
Often we see these burned areas next to the interstate.
Photos just don't really capture the stunning beauty!
Parked our home in Rozet, WY.
July 27th and we made it to South Dakota! In one day we saw The Devil's Tower, Crazy Horse Memorial and Mount Rushmore! A great day to see history!
Another golf ball!
The plains of Wyoming
The devils tower about three miles away.
A whole town of prairie dogs!
A coyote crossed the road in front of us. Kathy thried to get a photo.
We made it to another state!
Crazy Horse Memorial
stunning!
July 28th. First on the agenda was church! We went to a church called Living Outreadh Church in Custer, South Dakota. They had a real western flavor and the worship was unique and supurb! Pastor Joel brought a great message from Hebrews 11. Then we went back to the campsite for lunch and then to Custer State Park!
Living Outreach Church in Custer, South Dakota! We thoroughly enjoyed this church!
Maybe we should get one of these signs!
This is the entrane to Custer State Park.
He paid absolutely no attention to us!
A small deer greeted us in the park!
These are known as the "Begging Burrows" and they beg! As you can see, they stop all traffic and will go from car to car looking for handouts! These burrows are harmless yet are wild to the park!
We got to watch several antelope in the park. Just too cool!
There was a whole town of prarie dogs right next to the road!
We are now back at the campground after a full day. The sunset was beautiful in the South Dakota sky!
Today, July 29th, we traveled from Custer to Plankinton, South Dakota. A rather uneventful day in our travels but when we got all set up in our new overnight homestead, a good old fashioned South Dakota thunderstorm hit! It was awesome to watch!
So many towns out here resemble the old west!
Love it!
There is flat........
......and there is flat!
Never know what you will see out here!
Miles and miles of hay! Some are rolled and some are baled and these are HUGE bales!
We would love to see signs like these back home!
Our one night home in Plankinton, South Dakota.
We no sooner got the camper all set up and a thunderstorm come through. It was a spectacular lightening show! The clouds were really strange!
This post is for July 30-31st. Two days of travel and sightseeing our great country in the states of
Minnesota and Iowa!
Maybe the term "Flatlander" came from out here?
Would be nice to have signs like this in New England!
Never know what you will see when traveling!
Finally some relief on gas prices! This is about the lowest we've seen. California ranged from from $5.50-8.50 per gal!
Crossing another state line! Never been in MN!
Crop dusters are fun to watch!
More "flat!!!"
Landing in Albert Lea, MN.
We were told these were pelicans in the distance. There were a lot of them!
This campground was loaded with rabbits!
Wild turkeys
A mama and its baby crossing the road.
And another state line crossed!
Creative farm art
Another crop duster! Fun!
Yes!!!!! Jesus, You are our hope!
We went by the largest truck stop in America.
Hey there Tom and Roxanne! A whole city named after you!
Here we are in Park Terrace Campground. It is in a state park in Davenport, Iowa and very well kept!
Pelicans!
Cooking my bride breakfast for dinner! Home fries, sausage and eggs over easy on our Blackstone griddle!.
August 1st! Wow! Another month has gone by. We are still in Davenport, Iowa and will be heading out tomorrow morning for Champaign, Indiana. Our next goal/destination we are headed for is The Ark Encounter in Williamstown, KY.  Today we got the Sequoia washed, oil changed and tires rotated. Gotta take care of that vehicle! It has worked hard over the last five weeks. We have put on over 7500 miles so far!
We came across this accident. It happened a while before we got there. It had red tape marking it as cleared. Pray for the driver that he is ok!
Look, Tom and Roxanne are greeting us!
The mighty Mississippi!
Recently this area went through massive flooding. You can see how high the Mississippi River came up by the markings of mud on this lamp post!
Chick-Fil-A serves good food! "Haha! I see you!"
Hey Zoie Gilbert! Look what we found at a mall in Davenport, Iowa!
Hehehe!!!
Back at camp for a leisurely late afternoon!
Our one and only Idaho sunset.
August 2nd and 3rd were days that tested us to rely on the goodness of the Lord. We left our last campground and went south towards Illinois. After about 20 min on I-74 East, we stopped at a rest area and discovered one wheel on the camper was so hot it was smoking! After several phone calls, we got a mobile mechanic to come out. It was impossible for him to fix it on site so we ordered a flatbed to bring the camper to their shop. The first flatbed couldn't do the camper because it sits too low so that meant we had to spend the night at the rest area. We were blessed to have a generator so we did have air conditioning. the flatbed came about 9am and we got it loaded and delivered to the shop. The shop doesn't open till Monday so we now have to spend the weekend in a hotel. What a two day trial! But!!!! God is good!!

We want you to know this was God bringing us off the road when we stopped at the rest area. I asked Kathy if she wanted to stop but she said she was doing ok. I was doing ok too but I really felt prompted to stop anyways. IF we did not stop, we would have lost that camper wheel at 60-70mph! That could have been tragic to say the least! Thank You Jesus for protecting Kathy and me and perhaps others on the road!
Coming up on the Mississippi River!
Crossing yet another state line!
Headed east on I-74
Stopped at a rest area and discovered one wheel on the camper was so hot it was smoking!
The first flatbed truck could not load our camper. Not the right style.
Yup! We ended up spending the night in the rest area with the "big boys"
Making the best of a tuff time. Cooking dinner for my bride!
This flatbed worked well.
The wheel was almost off so we had to do some adjustments on it to keep it on long enough to get the camper loaded.
Loaded up and ready to go!
Now this is different! We are following the camper down the road instead of it following us down the road!
We usually show you our nightly homes in campgrounds. Since our camper is at the camper hospital, we are "camping out" in a hotel room for at least the next two nights. Tomorrow we are planning to visit a church here in East Molina, IL.
This update is for August 4th-8th. Our trial continues but also filled with blessings! We have been in the Super 8 in East Moline, IL for 5 days. The axle was ordered by B&B Trucking but the company sent the wrong one! As I write this, they have sent out their mechanic to find all parts needed so we can be back on the road by the end of the day! They are a great bunch of guys and are doing their best for us. Sunday, August 4th we found a great church called Calvary Church. It is a large church with two services and we went to the second service. The message was powerful and we plan on showing it to GCF after we come home.  Last night, Wednesday night, they have an evening time of worship and Bible study which we went to. Pastor Tim was teaching in the book of Galatians 6:1-6.
Calvary had a guest speaker for the morning services. His name is Rick McGough and he brought a powerful message about the state of our country and the direction we need to head in.
On a hill overlooking the highway! Love it!
The sunset on August 7th.
God even supplied a restaurant right next door! They have excellent food, big portions and reasonably priced! God truly supplies all of our need according to His riches through Christ Jesus!
August 9th is a Hallelujah day! The camper is all done and we are no longer in the Super 8 hotel! Six days we spent there waiting for the camper to get fixed. It was not B&B's fault. The company they ordered the new axle and hubs sent the wrong one. the bearings on the front axle also needed to be replaced so they installed brand new hubs on that axle as well. We are now back on the road and slowly making our way back home!
The camper is now repaired and we are loading the stuff we had at the hotel, back into the camper.
All hooked on and ready to travel! Excited!
this sign is for a Love's truck stop!
Crossing the state line back into Indiana!
A profound statement! Hope this sign saves lives by causing a mother to really think!
Jesus is the answer not only for Michigan City!
August 10th is a travel day! Slowly heading back home in a liesurely fashion!  We had camped in Michigan yeasterday, a state we had never been in until now. So we had to cross back into Indiana and on to Ohio. 287 miles later we landed at Hickory Lakes Campground in West Salem, OH. Tomorrow we look for a church and fellowship with other brothers and sisters! Probably spend some of the afternoon doing laundry!
Crossing badk into Indiana!
On to Ohio!
The birds are starting to flock together for the fall migration!
Escape the lake of fire O sinner!

See the horse and buggy?
Wetting a line.....just had to!
August 11th and 12th. August 11th is chruch day! We went to a church called Ashland Grace Church. The worship team was very good and Pastor Joshua preached a fine message from Psalm 139. After church Kathy and I went out to eat, did some shopping, went to The Goodwill store and then did one of my "favorite" things to do while camping....laundry! Still a pleasure to help my bride. Yes, we do it together!  August 12th is a travel day. we passed through our son-in-law's home town of Erie, PA. Did some sightseeing there, then on to the campground!
Ashland Grace Church
Never know what you will see on the road on a Sunday afternoon!
This is the laundry building at the campground. Rustic to say the least!
The pond right in front of our camper. We really enjoyed our two day stay here! It was a peaceful serene setting, so nice for rest!
Been doing this for over 10 years and I bug our daughter Lauren by sending these selfies to her. I always ask, "Like my new hat?"
I have kept every one of these "hat selfies" on my phone. With these four, I now have 270 of these photos! Fun!
On the shores of Lake Erie
Kathy added to the message on the back of our camper.
We have crossed so many state lines, some of them twice!
This is a photo of the roadway out into Lake Erie State Park. Lake Erie is on the left side of the road and the bay is on the right. We traveled all the way out and back! Just being tourists!
Awesome clouds over the lake.
Gotta get my feet wet!
Lighthouse museum.
Another state line!
Lake Chautauqua
The pond at our new campground.
Home for the night!
Tuesday, August 13th and we are camping in Davenport, NY. Yup! we found another Davenport! How about that Tom and Roxanne! We traveled 287 miles today so we have now traveled a total of 8920 miles since we left home on June 25th. Just a simple travel day and we went through a part of NY we have never been through before. Yeah, we are at the tail end of our trip and yes, we do miss all of you tremendously. Yet, we are a little sad the trip is almost over as we have seen and experienced so much these past two months. Can't wait to share when we get home!
When we left this morning, it was very foggy out due to the humidity and heavy dew this morning. This is the first fog we have endountered as most places we went were hot and dry!
Allegheny Reservoir
Who is Jesus? Do you know Him? He knows you and loves you with an everlasting love!
Guess what? We found another ALDI's!! We did some shopping and then had lunch in the camper in the parking lot!
Hey Tom and Roxanne! Yes we found yet another Davenport! This one is in New York state!
Setting up camp for the night! Thankful for safe travels and all systems working!
There is a pond back there. It was a nice place to sit this evening and read the Psalms!
Wednesday, August 14th brought us to Woodford, Vermont. So close to home and we were yearning to hug our grandchildren!
This hill's grade was not listed but our brakes heated up far more that they did in the Rocky Mountains!
Wow! Almost home! this is crossing into Vermont at Bennington.
Deer in the deer park in Bennington next to the Soldier's Home.
This is Greenwood Lodge and Campground in Woodford VT next to Prospect Mountain Ski Area. A nice campground that was very quiet!
The following day we were on home turf at Swanzey Lake Camppground and were reunited with our family!
Being reunited with our family was better than sweet! Kaylee ran pell mell into grandma's arms and cried. and Emmett gave a big hug! We spent a few days at this campground then moved to Forest Lake Campground in Winchester and stayed there for a week with the grand kids! Just spent this time reconnecting with them and then we showed up at Grace Christian Fellowship unannounced on August 18th! It was a wonderful time worshipping our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ with our home church family! On this two month journey, we visited many churches and they we all a blessing to us but there is no place like home!
Just a lazy day with our grand kids doing what we love to do! Fishing!
Kathy's mom used to say, "The sweetest mile you will ever roam, is the last mile home!" And we are now home! (Until the next adventure!)
